Is this really happening! Montreal bars will be open until 6:00am! To be exact, 19 locations have been chosen for what they’re calling a test pilot. This was officially announced by Mayor Denis Coderre himself this Friday afternoon.

All in all, 7 bars on Crescent applied for the special permission, along with 12 other bars in the ”Quartier latin”. This would allow them to serve alcohol until 5:30am and keep their doors open until 6:00am. The pilot would take place on weekends only, and would last from June 12th till July 5th (for a complete list of these bars scroll below)!

Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves however! The “Régie des alcools et des jeux” will have the final say on the topic. On top of it, a public notice was made this morning in ”Le Devoir”, giving the opportunity to any individual or organization to express their opposition to the project within the next 30 days.

For this to go through, the SPVM would need to interview every participant of the pilot and as mentioned earlier, the ”Régie” has the final say. Once approved, the pilot will be strictly supervised by a special committee and public opinion would be taken into consideration by the ”Office de consultation publique de Montréal”
