Falafel Freiha is not your typical falafel joint. Sure, like its brothers and sisters, it’s rather small in size, carries little seating space, and is a quite simplistic little setup. One thing’s for sure though, you will never find fresher falafels than at this hideaway shop. In fact, back in Beirut Lebanon, Falafel Freiha is known by most as one of the best sandwicheries. As they slowly make their mark on Montreal, Freiha is already frequented by a large number of lifelong loyal customers. And it’s no wonder; at this level of freshness, you can walk out with two sandwiches for under 6$. Now that’s a bargain.

Once you take a few steps in, you will notice Falafel Freiha owner quietly greet you behind the counter, he will wait for you to make the first move. He won’t ask you anything; you must already know the answer ‘’how many falafel balls in your sandwich?’’. Sign language does get in handy at that point in time. Once you get the ball rolling, he starts scooping away at his chickpeas mix and dumping chickpea balls into his huge fryer-caldron. All this is done at lightning-fast speed. The whole thing is stuffed into a pita bread, with tomatoes, lettuce, and tahini. Don’t forget to ask for some green chili peppers on the side. Falafel Freiha is in Laval not too far off the highway. Many will tell you, it’s definitely worth the drive.
