A decade ago, it would have been pretty hard to imagine ordering a meal that consisted entirely of veggies at a fast food chain. Well, times have certainly changed and places like Copper Branch definitely reinforce this new trend. We’ve all had the notions that trans fats are bad (even if they taste so good) and that there actually is a certain quantity of vegetables that you have to eat in order to function properly hammered into our heads. It now seems consumers have finally taken these thoughts to heart and decided to reach for something that’s healthier.

Gone are the days of fluorescents and neon décor synonymous with fried foods. Even if they may not spend a ton of time there, customers still expect a pleasant atmosphere that’s got something of a hip vibe to it, and the gorgeous Copper Branch location on Mont-Royal Est definitely rises to the call.

Earlier this month, the restaurant’s trendy locale was host to a beer and wine tasting event in celebration of the Jeunes Entrepreneurs. Surrounded by the warm tones of wood and of course a beautifully designed copper ceiling, guests were able to enjoy a glass of their chosen drink, all while being treated to vegan bites and tasty treats like mini burgers and veggie wraps.

Rather than your typical disgruntled teens or workers who have seen humanity’s drunken 3am mess serving you, the Copper Branch staff is trained to inform you of all the veggie goodness and benefits of their wide and varied menu (FYI, the Portobello mushroom burger got rave reviews from a meat eater).

Who would have thought that during these times of constant turmoil, the comfort food of choice would be a tasty vegan Power Bowl or a Shiitake Teriyaki Burger? And if you’re still questioning the validity of these claims, there’s no better way to find out for yourself than to visit one of Copper Branch’s handful of locations in Montreal and then make up your mind if these meatless options do actually rival their “special sauce”-topped meat counterparts.
