August is here but the smell of fall is not in the air yet. It’s officially the last stretch of the summer and your last chance to get up and do something exciting. This’ll give you something to tell people when they ask you what you’ve done with your summer. Lucky for you, we’ve got things you can do to end off your summer on a positive note.

OSM Classical Spree

Summer in Montreal is always a time to share the city’s love for all types of music and its festivals. For a two-day event, Montreal hosts the third edition of the OSM Classical Spree. The event begins with a big free concert at the Esplanade Financière Sun Life du Parc olympique. Presented by SiriusXM, enjoy a night at the opera in commemoration of Hiroshima. Then, on August 7 and 8 at Place des Arts, enjoy concerts with a lineup of artists who were inspired by historic composers. A celebration of classical music, the event also has free events and activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family. A family and kid zone is set up throughout the event with demo kiosks, talks, singing performances, relaxation, and games, taking place before and after the concerts.

The Dybbuk

If you’re a little rusty on your Yiddish, or don’t know any at all, there’s no need to worry because anyone can enjoy the classic Gothic Yiddish play The Dybbuk. This month, The Dora Wasserman Yiddish Theater is the host of one of theater’s classic plays. A multimedia production, the audience will enjoy The Dybbuk, a great Gothic love story, filled with passion and possession. The production will be in its original language, Yiddish, but will contain both English and French subtitles. For its 13th edition, The International Tango Festival returns to Montreal’s Rialto Theater. Well, The Tango Festival is the perfect place: a festival filled with music by musicians from Argentina and Quebec, and dancing events like Milonga, where you can fill your evenings with dance and live music. The festival also offers a dance-training program, with workshops for beginners and dancers of all levels.
