There may not be much difference weather wise between Montreal summers and Australian winters, but one thing we do have in common with our friends down under is mutual love for comedian Joe Avati. Back by popular demand, the Aussie returns to Montreal with his Back To Basics World Tour on Saturday, June 20th, 2015 at the Leonardo Da Vinci Center. With his best selling comedy albums and record-breaking ticket sales, this show is bound to be a packed house.
His brand of stand-up, which includes performances in both English and Italian, attracts a wide variety of audiences. From comedy newbies to native Italians living in Montreal, Avati’s performances have something for everyone, no matter your background or the language you speak. Avati has not only filled up venues in his native Australia, but also all over Canada, the US, and the United Kingdom.
He’s been called “the greatest comedian you’ve never heard of” thanks to his preference to keep his shows as local and as intimate as possible. His humour often includes references to his Italian heritage that not only makes audiences laugh, but gets them to think about their own families and background. He prefers to have his jokes be relatable rather than raunchy. Extra treat, Avati’s shows often include musical performances either on his own or with a talented cast. Many different forms of entertainment can be expected.
Along with Joe Avati, audience members will also be treated to an opening act by Montreal’s own comedian and actor Guido Grasso. Grasso immediately attracts audience members with his natural ability to deliver comedic stories and does not shy away from taking a few jabs at himself. When he’s not performing on stage or in front of the big screen, Grasso runs his family owned restaurant Sapori Di Napoli in Ahunsic.
Like most of Joe Avati’s shows, the Back To Basics World Tour is bound to sell out. There will be two performances, one at 6:00pm and another at 9:30pm. Tickets must be purchased in advance and cost $63. Please be seated at least 15 minutes before show commencement time. Parking is available for free at the Leonardo Da Vinci Center.
