Pinokio is a fresh face on Bernard street situated in the old Le Petit Italien. Le Petit Italien has been around for 18 years and decided to revamp their name and image recently. The new Pinokio offers a new take on Italian food as well a food truck to offer a taste of Italy throughout Montreal.
The restaurant has brick walls lined with shelves of homemade tomato sauce and a stunning view of Bernard street. The food truck cannot be missed, with everyone’s favourite fairy tale character Pinocchio on the side.
The food truck has entrees under $5 and mains between $7-$10 with sandwiches between $4-$6. They even have a gnocchi poutine with veal and cheese curds in it, their gnocchi ossobucco poutine! You can also have desserts along with the ever challenging decision of choosing tiramisu or a bomboloni stuffed with Nutella. There is also a kids combo for $7 that gets you a choice of pasta, a dessert, and a toy. The option of kids menu items makes for an even better reason to search out this food truck.
With the food truck driving off into the sunset, we can now look at the main dishes at the restaurant. With four antipasti options and an add-on option to modify any of them, you can get a mix of meat, cheese, and veggies. They also have three salad choices, four tartares, and a hearty minestrone soup (an Italian classic).
Pastas come in two portions sizes with 12 choices ranging from carbonara to a duck confit and porcini mushroom pasta with fresh spinach! There are also two mouthwatering risotto options (mushroom or shrimp) with a choice of half or full portion. To accompany your meal, Pinokio has also launched their own Pinokio red and white wines.
With all these dishes, you have to make sure to leave room for any of their seven desserts, like crème brûlée, tiramisu, and cotton candy.
