The first Délices Lafrenaie opened its doors in the East End and since then has become more and more popular, with people flocking their doors for sweets of all kinds. While most of the locations are in the suburbs, well away from the city center, the newest addition to the Lafrenaie family has opened its doors in Montreal West.

This Lafrenaie has a fresh new look and is definitely already turning heads. Opened by the fabulous mother-daughter duo Josie Spano and Jenn Ruvo, respectively, the café and bakery reflects their sunny outlook on life and generous personalities. Even though they’ve only been open a few weeks, they are always jamming, making Lafrenaie the hip place to be on Westminster.

You can pick up fresh or frozen cakes to bring to your family or loved ones. Some of our faves are the carrot cake, the lemon pound cake, or the Explosion Chocolate Praline (basically Ferrero Rocher). Delish! Not only that, but you can order specialty cakes for special occasions, like weddings, baptisms, birthdays, and more. Their cakes are gorgeous and are very customizable and taste great too!

If you have no idea what to cook for dinner, they also have frozen pastas, lasagnas, cannellonis, and more, ready for you to pop in the oven. You can even pretend it’s homemade when your dinner guests ooh and aah.

But this Lafrenaie isn’t all about the pick up and go! They have tables and benches so you can eat a bite on the spot, making this a great café to meet up with friends for lunch. The large windows let in wonderful natural light, so you can eat in the sunshine too.

For lunch, they have pizza al taglio, with toppings depending on the day. They make their own calzones too. We sampled one with cheese and salami and another one with ricotta and rapini. Mmm mmm good. Grab a chicken cutlet sandwich or dig into a generous portion of lasagna (vegetarian and meat options). If you want a small snack, their cheesy and meaty arancini are also winners.

Of course, no Lafrenaie is complete without a generous assortment of sweets! Their Nutella horns are to die for, and the lemon drop cookies are pillows of citrusy goodness. They have a huge selection of desserts for you to choose from, so every tastebud will be satisfied. We have our eye on their Nutella and ricotta cake (sold by the slice). The name alone makes us salivate.

Enjoy it all with a delicious coffee. We have it on good authority that Jenn Ruvo was trained in the art of coffee making by none other than Baristello himself.

Don’t forget to check out the new jazzed up Délices Lafrenaie ASAP! Follow them on Facebook and Instagram to find out their daily specials.
