For the first time, Montreal will be hosting the Okala Gala on May 2, 2015.  The Okala Foundation was created by President and Founder Tamara Davy, and is a Canadian-based charity with the purpose of improving the quality of life for children in the villages of Cameroon.

Is there ever a better reason to party than for a good cause? Head over to Espace Réunion, where the Gala will be taking place. The event begins at 7:00pm and is a Cocktail dinatoire (cocktail reception), with entertainment throughout the night. Tickets can be purchased online at www.okalafoundation.org and are 150$ (a portion is tax-deductible) and guests are expected to dress casual-chic.

Money raised funds the construction of wells in twelve remote villages of Cameroon and at four Okala Foundation schools. Donations can be made online at www.okalafoundation.org or by checkpayable to the Okala Foundation.

What can you expect throughout the night at the Okala Gala? The Gala is honoring Jimmy Kaufman, film/television director and philanthropist, a circus performance from Les 7 Doigts de la Main, music by DJ Dee and Vuyo & Patience, and of course delicious food! There will also be a silent and live auctionoffering two business-class tickets to Europe from Swiss International Airlines, a raffle for a $5,000 diamond from Ex Aurum Jewelers, and many door prizes.

The Okala Gala is a night filled with so many great things for a great cause. According to the villages’ local language, Okala means ‘care’ and that is what the committed group of volunteers do. They care for these children and have helped (and continue to) receive sponsorship for more than four hundred children in eight different villages in East Cameroon.

Now, it’s your turn!
