With knowledge of animal cruelty on the rise and people just being more aware of the products they consume and use, it’s no wonder we have dire need of businesses with transparency as their motto. In comes V & O Salon, an organic and vegan nail salon ready to pamper us – and boy did they pamper us!
We went in when (we thought) sandal weather was starting (what’s happening with spring/summer in Montreal? Should we store our winter coats? So confused.) and we got an amazing pedicure. The charismatic and welcoming owner, Pascale, was on hand to make sure we were treated well. She had her trusty 4-legged sidekick with her, Squid, to keep us entertained as well (and we also kind of wanted to kidnap him).
The set-up at the pedicure station is just divine. It overlooks Notre-Dame street, so you can people watch while you get your toes beautified. It’s ideal to go with a girlfriend to get that quality gal-pal time.
All the products used at V & O Salon are vegan and organic. The nail polishes they use are Deborah Lippmann, which is 7-free, vegan, and doesn’t use any animal testing, and Ten Over Ten, which is 8-free and cruelty-free. Both brands are excellent for healthy nail-care that you’ll have no guilt in indulging.
We got the full Deborah Lippmann pedicure treatment and we were in heaven. The pedicurists at V & O really know what they’re doing. Did we mention your feet are soaked in water filled with fresh flowers? Pure decadence. Another plus (for us, at least), is that they don’t scrape under our feet to remove the dead skin, but instead use a heavy duty foot file.
They keep all the tools they used on you in a bag with your name on it for when you come back to use their service (because they know you’ll be back, they’re just that good). Just another way they try to reuse and recycle to save the environment.
Another service they offer is sugar waxing, another healthy (and delicious) way to pamper and beautify. Sugar wax is 100% natural, made with sugar, water, and lemon. It’s so natural, you may want to take a taste (before waxing, of course). Egyptians and other cultures traditionally use this combination as wax, so you may have seen your grandmother use it too!
For a wonderful and guilt-free pampering experience, we definitely recommend V & O Salon. From the welcome staff to the killer service, you definitely won’t be disappointed! Now all we need is actual sandal weather…
