When a great night out can be paired together with giving back to an important cause, we know it’s something Montrealers will want to know about. On February 3rd, the Just for Kids Foundation is putting on its 9th Annual Dancing with the Stars Gala benefiting the Montreal Children’s Hospital at the Telus Theatre. This year’s theme is “A Step in Time” with dance performances ranging from the swanky 1920’s to today’s hip-hop. Talk about getting your groove on.
But before we talk more about the amazing evening, let’s make sure you know more about the incredible foundation the event is for, Just for Kids (JFK). JFK is dedicated to raising funds to purchase top-priority medical equipment for the Montreal Children’s Hospital. The 2014-2015 campaign, A GROWING PROMISE, is aiming to raise $500,000 to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for the ENT and Urology Departments at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. Last year, the Dancing with the Stars Gala raised $350,000 (!!!!!) for their 2013-2014 campaign. Incredible, right?
Now back to the Gala. There are 9 dance performances during the night, 6 individual performances, 2 group teams, and 1 children’s group from Juste Dance Studio. How it works: Each of the individual dancers are paired with a pro from Juste Dance Studio, given a decade and a mission to raise $10,000+ for JFK. They’ve also been rehearsing for the past 4 months. The dance groups will be celebrating the 80’s. And no different from all your favourite TV dance shows, the Gala will be a competition that will be judged by a panel including Jean Marc Généreux, Pierre Allaire, Vince Guzzo, and Connie Rotella, with the evening hosted by Freeway Frank and Natasha Gargiulo from Virgin Radio 96. During the evening there will be an auction and raffle prizes that you won’t want to miss out on, like Habs and Als prize packs, Napa Valley tours, and much more. And if that’s not enough, because JFK Foundation would never leave you hungry, of course there will be scrumptious nibbles throughout the night provided by Java U catering and an open bar.
Tickets are $195 each and available online on the JFK website. To find out more about Just for Kids Foundation and all the incredible things they’re doing or how you can get more involved, check out their website and Facebook page.
