Montreal is without a doubt one of the most fashionable cities in North America and every year fashionistas from all over descend upon the city for the Fashion and Design Festival. Running from August 20 to August 23, this year’s edition will be taking place in the hub of Montreal’s summer festivals, Quartier des Spectacles.
The festival brings together some of the city’s biggest names in fashion and design to the public with pop up shops that will be all over the Quartier des Spectacles. Kicking off the festival on August 20, at 12:30 pm, on the corner of Jeanne Mance and St. Catherine, is the famous Stiletto Race. This year the race will be contributing to the Le Chaînon charity. Actress Myriam Côté is this year’s race ambassador, and anyone can put on their heels and join in!
Don’t miss the runway shows happening throughout the days and evenings of the festival! Some noteworthy shows include Mouvement, August 20 from 9pm-10pm on the Casino de Montreal runway, a fashion event inspired by fashion’s ability to unite different aspects of creativity and ingenuity.
If all that fashion has your head swirling take a yoga break with Geneviève Laquerre from 12:30pm to 1pm on August 21st, on the Casino de Montreal Runway. That same evening, check out the up and coming local talent at D Moment, a collective runway show featuring new designers from in and around the city like Les Frères Joncas, 3.Paradis, Mohawki, Aragon Couture and Insieme.
On Friday, August 22nd, some of the heavy hitters in the Montreal fashion scene will be showing off their new fall collections on the catwalks. This year’s shows include Forever 21, Dynamite, Antoine Laoun for Oliver People’s Eyewear, Alton Grey, Guess & Marciano and La Vie en Rose.
Closing off the festival on Saturday, August 23rd, is the Fashion Soul event. Bringing together unique and colorful fashion and design with jazz, soul train, disco and hip hop.
