Sorry to break it to you guys, but looks like we’re heading to Laval on September 12th. Scène 1425, in partnership with the Salle André-Mathieu, have managed to make the Place Montmorency THE place to be by booking an impeccable lineup to kick off the new school year. Located right beside the metro station Montmorency, it’s actually a pretty decent spot for shows and now hosts the annual Laval’s Mondial Loto-Québec. The name MRCY is a play on words on both the location’s name and “thank you” in French (merci), which is actually pretty cute. Less cute though is the $46 price tag for the tickets, which go on sale on Thursday, June 12th at 9:00am. Block parties are generally free or at a low cost and charging close to $50 a head is an odd way to say thanks.
But that’s all beside the point. Let’s get back to the killer lineup: Death From Above 1979, who’ve just announced a new album The Physical World to be released on September 9th, Sky Ferreira, Neutral Milk Hotel, Metric, The Barr Brothers, and a few more acts yet to be announced. We can arguably say that the lineup definitely warrants the ticket price, we’re just not sure we can legitimately call this a block party. But enough with semantics, let’s get ready to make the trek to Laval.
