The flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, and ladies’ legs are coming out of hiding: it’s spring! And what better way to usher in the beautiful weather than with a garden party? That’s just what Fitzroy did!

The bar was styled to the T, with flower banners and laurel wreaths for all the guests (mostly the ladies, although the gents looked pretty fab in them too). We were happy to see turf on the floor next to the bar, which wasn’t just a special gimmick for the event, but is there all the time. A true garden party indeed!

The employees even brought kittens for the event, which was probably not the best idea for the kittens themselves (touched by 100 people for 3 hours), but it definitely made the event memorable!

The cocktails were delicious, obviously, with Laurence Picard involved. They were fruity with just the right amount of citrus without being overbearingly sweet. Our favourite was the Wanderlust, with Belvedere, St-Germain, Fitzsour, soda, lemon, and mint.

Another delicious cocktail was the Backside Splash, with Beefeater gin, fitzsour, tonic, cranberries, sea buckthorn, and ginger. You really can’t go wrong with their cocktails!

And if you’re feeling peckish (when are we not?), then you’ll be surprised to know that their food is absolutely delicious! They have a small menu of finger foods that we loved!

For the glutton in all of us, the grilled cheese mac and cheese was divine. For a salty kick, there was delicious bacon inside, and for that spicy tang, they drizzled sriracha on top. Sweet, buttery heaven. We were so happy.

The chorizo tacos with hummus, red cabbage, herbs, and zesty mayo was a nice surprise. The perfect two-biter taco to satisfy that craving.

The Fitz burger is simple but perfect, with bacon, cheddar, lettuce, pickles, and their milles îles sauce. The meat was juicy and the classic ingredients tied it all together.

And for dessert? Paradise. Think Nutella and ricotta, pressed together between two slices of bread. A dessert grilled cheese, if you may. We could have had a tray of those (summer bod, say what?).

If you want to grab a few drinks, play a few rounds of billiards, and enjoy some delicious bar food, look no further than Fitzroy. You won’t be disappointed with their laid-back garden party vibe.
