The Keg has locations all across Canada, and while it may be known as another popular steakhouse, it is in fact so much more. We discovered this neat little fact when we were invited to The Keg Place Ville Marie to celebrate summer (unfortunately on the rainiest day yet), under their gorgeous canopied terrace.
The drinks were flowing and we had a particular crush on their potent and spicy Bloody Caesar featuring a very spicy and delicious green bean to complement the classic celery stalk. Another favourite was their blackberry Bourbon cocktail that will definitely get the room spinning in the best way possible.
As for the food, we were served a few different canapés throughout the evening. We started with a very classic shrimp cocktail appetizer. The shrimp were plump and juicy, and the accompanying sauce had a nice little kick to it. Next, we tried a cauliflower General Tao. Seriously, we may trade in the chicken variety and stick to cauliflower in the future. They were delicious!
Of course, we had to try their steak, and boy does The Keg do steak right. The meat was cooked rare (the only way to eat steak) and was served with a garlic aioli. Perfection! To add a little surf in the mix, we also tried their tuna tartare, that was fresh and a nice contrast to the steak.
Our two favourite dishes, however, came next. First, a prime rib slider to end all prime rib sliders. Tender, succulent, and drool-worthy thinly sliced prime rib was served with a horseradish sauce on a light, fresh bun. We could have eaten five. And finally, the bacon wrapped scallops were what will keep us coming back. The scallop was cooked to perfection, the bacon was crunchy, and our tummies were incredibly happy.
If you’re in the mood for a steak, or really anything else, because every other dish is incredibly delicious, head on over to one of The Keg‘s locations. We’re particularly fond of the Place Ville Marie one with their awesome terrace in the middle of downtown Montreal.
