With the introduction of the Montreal Impact to the MLS a few years back, the Montreal football culture has been on the rise and there’s no stopping it. Having just been to the CONCAFAF Champions League final and playing an impressive first leg in hostile territory, there is much to be hopeful about for football here in Montreal. In the short history of the Impact, we’ve brought overseas stars like Marco Di Vaio and Alessandro Nesta. Our most recent import, Ignacio Piatti, is also doing well.

Pitchfest Montreal 2015 (3)

With this growing football culture comes the passion for the love of the game and Pitchfest is exactly what that passion is. They created Pitchfest with football in mind but did not limit it to just that. With football comes the whole culture: arts, film, music, and so on. At Pitchfest, you’ll find art by locals like MEKA and Evan Melnyk. Also in attendance will be photographers like Celia Spenard-Ko and content creators like Paul Labonte. For films, you can find movies like Bend it Like Beckham and The Two Escobars playing at Cinema du Parc. A show from English indie band Kaiser Chiefs will be happening at the Virgin Mobile Corona Theatre. The Kaiser Chiefs show will also consist of opening sets by Palma Violets, Priory, and Public Access T.V.
