When summer drinks come to mind, one of our favourite places to go is Boho. It has the perfect atmosphere filled with bright cocktails, a California-inspired menu and palm trees galorefor the perfect summer night out. To kick off the season and celebrate their one year anniversary, Boho threw a lavish Miami Retro Beach Flair party that was everything the name promises!

Half the fun of Boho is that it’s a spot that only those who know… know. A speakeasy hidden inside the mega-popular Venice restaurant in the Old Port, Boho is a secret bar that only the trendiest know. When you walk through the discreet entrance, a tropical realm of palm trees and neon pink flamingos take the scene. Grab a seat at the bar and it almost feels like you’ve just sat down at a breezy cocktail bar right off the beach.

Boho is famous for their cute drinks, so the Miami Retro Flair party was obviously serving up the popular Miami Vice cocktail. Reminiscent of a Piña Colada, the Miami Vice is a tropical mixture of white rum, guava and lime juice, fresh pineapple, and topped with coconut flakes. The best part? A gourmet popsicle dipped right into your drink! The coconut pop is the perfect way to start or end your drink.

The Santa Monica is a similarly festive drink to the Miami Vice. This one packs a fruitier punch, with a tequila and aperol base and strawberry syrup. The drink is garnished with fresh raspberry, lime, and basil, and another gourmet popsicle just as sweet as the last. The popsicle drinks go for $13 each.

A tropical party isn’t complete without margaritas, and Boho once again delivered with the freshest watermelon margaritas! The bartenders didn’t come to play with this one: it mixes tequila, curacao, and maraschino liqueur with of course juicy watermelon. These and all the other summer drinks to sip on at Boho range from $12 to $15 each.

The food at Boho is just as great as the drinks. In fact, many of their menu items are borrowed from the bright and flavorful picks at Venice, and include a variety of gluten-free, lactose-free, vegetarian, and vegan options to please everyone. The fresh menu at Boho is filled with Poke bowls, salads, and thin-crust pizzas, and all the menu items range from $6 to $18. For the Miami party, Boho was serving up a classic crowd pleaser: Tacos. The tacos at Boho can seriously rival some Mexican street fare, and come in so many varieties you’ll always want more.

Boho Korean Tacos

The first taco we tried was the Korean beef taco. An Asian and Mexican fusion, the taco meat absolutely burst with flavour. It was topped with Kimchi and Shoyu Mayo, and a sprinkle of peanuts that gave them the perfect crunch. Once we tried the first ones, we knew we were going to try them all.

The next tacos we tried were the oh-so-savory shrimp tacos. Our favourite of the evening, the spicy shrimp was a perfect contrast to the fresh avocado and zing of the limed cabbage. They were also topped with a grilled corn salsa for some sweetness.

The most authentic of the bunch, the next taco in the lineup was the Mexican Chicken taco. These scrumptious bites were topped with onions, peppers, avocado, and sour cream, with a spicy salsa for an extra kick.

Last but definitely not least, you can’t throw a party in Montreal without our favorite candies! Squish was of course present to shower guests with the best of tropical sweets. There were lemon-lime “ice cube” gummies and Piña Colada candies that made the beach party complete.

One year of Boho has been a great year for Boho, and you know what could it make it better? You! Come by Boho this summer for some fab drinks, hit-the-spot food, and best of all, a great party!
