While technically not even Canadian, Ought is a Montreal-bred band and a favourite one at that. Promoting their debut album More Than Any Other Day, they’ll be performing with Dub Thompson at Casa Del Popolo. Solids, another Montreal alternative rock band, will be hitting the stage at Turbo Haüs with Weed and The Nymphets. Meanwhile, American rapper Future brings his new tour to L’Olympia accompanied by Rico Love and Que.

While music lovers still mourn the demise of Calgary rock back Women, Viet Cong seems to be picking up the pieces where they left off. With two of the original Women members on board, and opening sets by TV Ghost and Corridor, their show at the Divan Orange is sure to be good times. Wild Beasts continue to garner praise for their most recent release Present Tense, while Mutual Benefit’s new album Love’s Crushing Diamond is set to be on most “best of 2014” lists; they’ll be performing together at the Théâtre Corona as part of their co-headlining tour. But if buoyant American pop is more your steez, then you’ll undoubtedly be one of the thousands of  fans at the Bell Centre for Katy Perry’s Prismatic Tour.

Halifax alternative rock band Kestrels have just recently released their new EP entitled The Moon Is Shining Our Way and they’ll be promoting it with a performance at L’Escogriffe, with Jet Black and Harsh Reality supporting. San Francisco four-piece The Fresh & Onlys are on tour promoting their great new album House of Spirits and are stopping by La Vitrola with The Shilos. Remember that 2003 viral hit Gay Bar? Well Electric 6 are responsible for that little gem and will be stopping by the Petit Campus while they’re gearing up for the release of their next album Human Zoo, alongside The Mohrs and local garage rockers Frisky Kids.
