If you’re vegan, finding a delicious vegan restaurant in Montreal is no easy feat. If you’re not vegan, vegan food may seem pretty intense. Luckily, Aux Vivres finds the perfect way to please vegans and surprise carnivores with their flavourful dishes, leaving you full and satisfied.

Open since 1997, the Makhan brothers have expanded their diner-style restaurant to include a quaint back terrace. They also offer delivery and take-out options for those cozy nights in.

With a heavy focus on locally grown ingredients, the chefs at Aux Vivres have created an impressive menu sure to please your palate. The Corn Bread appetizer ($6) is a must have. This soul food staple is moist and crumbly all at once, perfect with their homemade guacamole (for just 50¢ extra). Their Thai Bowl with Tofu ($12) or Tempeh (cultured and fermented soy beans for $13.50) is filled to the brim with organic brown rice, bok choy, pickled carrot and daikon, peanuts, coriander, and Thai peanut sauce. The Burger Aux Vivres ($13) is a delectable garden patty served on a whole-wheat bun piled high with caramelized onions, mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and chipotle mayo.

For dessert, their gluten-free Banana Chocolate Pie ($5.95) is one of the richest desserts to ever grace your lips. Aux Vivres also houses a fresh juice and smoothie bar sure to quell any fruit or veggie cravings your stomach may be growling for.

The Makhan brothers have hit the nail on the head providing satisfying vegan food to Montrealers, all the while supplying their restaurant and other restaurants nationwide with their Noblebean tempeh, straight from their factory since 2013. You definitely won’t want to miss out on Aux Vivres and their tantalizing meals, sure to put a smile on your face and an unbuttoned button on your jeans!
