Little Italy has been graced with yet another delicious eatery, this one including a delicious twist. Not only does Signorvino serves tantalizing Italian fare, but they are also a wine bar, serving up imported wines from various regions in Italy. Located on St Laurent with a gorgeous terrace, this spot is sure to be happening all summer long.
Before you order food, you’ll need a drink. Before delving into the wine list, we suggest a classic Aperol Spritz to wet your palate in anticipation of what’s to come. Next, you can browse their wine list by Italian region, and luckily they didn’t leave us out! You’ll also find a few wines from Quebec.
Now what’s so special about Signorvino is that they have their bar license, so you can come in for a drink without eating no problem! Although when you see the menu, you’ll definitely have a hard time resisting.
Now for the food. The menu is small and changes regularly with fresh seasonal ingredients. When a menu has only one page, you know that they’re only making their specialties, and not one dish is a filler.
For appetizers, try the funghi macchiato con polenta, succulent mushrooms on a bed of creamy polenta that will knock your socks off. We also loved the arrosticini abruzzese con puri di cecci, meat skewers on a velvety spiced hummus: a beautiful marriage of Mediterranean cuisines.
A sure fire way to test an Italian restaurant’s prowess is by trying their tomato sauce. Signorvino did not disappoint. The tagliatelle al pomodoro e basilico was perfection in every bite. Light and full of flavour, we couldn’t get enough. If you try their fish of the day, you won’t be disappointed. We were lucky enough to sample some swordfish sitting atop half an artichoke. The presentation alone was stunning, and the taste was delicious.
For dessert, the classics are available, like molten lava cake, tiramisu, and crème brulée. Our favourite was the molten lava cake oozing with chocolatey flavour.
For a nice glass (or bottle) of wine and a savoury plate of food on a fabulous terrace, look no further than Little Italy’s Signorvino.
