Ever want to make the perfect butter chicken at home but you’re unsure of which extra spice to add to truly make it golden? If you ever want to compete with Bombay Mahal and you don’t have an Indian mother or grandmother teaching you family secrets, you may want to check out Singal’s Indian Grocery Delivery.
Yatin Singal and his wife Melissa started Singal’s in January of this year. They loved cooking Indian food but were having trouble finding authentic ingredients in Montreal. From there sprouted the idea for Singal’s. Yatin is Indian himself, and in order to ensure authenticity, he makes sure all the ingredients come from authentic sources: straight from the Indian subcontinent.
They have over 200 products available, including spices, pulses, ready-to-eat meals, snacks, drinks, and ayurvedic products, all at a very reasonable price. The brands they choose to work with are some of the most popular in India, so you know you’re getting the good stuff when you order from them.
Delivery is free for Quebec and Ontario if your order is over $49, and it takes 2 businesses days to arrive. For Montreal, you’ll get your order that same day or the next day. Quick, easy delivery of delicious Indian ingredients: sign us up!
We got to try a few of their products and we were definitely impressed. We made butter chicken using their Butter Chicken Spice Mix and honestly, it rivalled some of our favourite Indian restaurants. It was spicier than we were used to (score!) and loaded with flavour. To go with our butter chicken, we obviously needed naan. This naan bread is perfect to toss in the freezer to save for your next Indian food soirée or for a quick snack whenever you get a craving.
Disclaimer: we definitely never opt for ready-to-eat meals; we love to cook and nothing can compare to a home-cooked meal. But the Dal Makhani really impressed us. All we had to do was add the bag to boiling water and voila! A delicious meal! We’ll definitely be ordering again. Finally, we tried the mini samosas. Pop them in the oven and they’re perfect as an appetizer to your butter chicken.
We had a fabulous time cooking up an Indian feast and it was oh so satisfying because the spices were on point and we were fully equipped. Explore Singal’s website and start meal planning!
