Whether you are lacking some sexy excitement in your life, or simply want to add another dimension to it, the Montreal Burlesque Festival has got a special treat for all: from the 13th to the 15th of October, Club Soda is being taken over by sexily-clad seductive ladies for our collective viewing pleasure.
Featured these few days is Montreal’s own international burlesque star Scarlett James — who has travelled to various countries in Europe, Brazil, China, and Japan to perform and has the distinction of being the first Canadian burlesque artist to appear in high-end corporate events for major brands — MisRed Delicious, the producer of the New Zealand Burlesque Festival; the all-American curvy beauty Minnie Tonka; the “sexsation” Calamity Chang; golden glamazon Syndi Deveraux; and New Orlean’s queen of burlesque, Medianoche.
This is only naming a few of the performers, who are joining the stage with an impressive cast of Quebec’s own finest in burlesque, such as Lady Josephine, Audrey Ivory, Randi Rouge, Mimie Cherry, Foxy Lexxi, to only name a few.
The evenings’ comedic dimension is provided by Benjamin Marquis — the fan-dubbed Captain Burlesque — while the likes of Silky Steel, Marianne Trenka and Nicole Burgio leave audiences breathless with their acrobatic feats.
And if you’re hoping to do a little more performing, or just want to know what it feels like to do burlesque, there will be classes such as Calamity Chang’s Classic Fan Dance, MisRed’s seminar on the business of burlesque, or Minnie Tonka Knee-Slapping Burlesque session from the 13th until the 16th.
