If you love sugaring off but hate the drive outside of town, we’ve got you covered. Enter Terra Perma’s Cabane à Sucre brunch in the heart of St Henri. And pssst! If you keep reading, we have a special contest for you!
Terra Perma is a multi-disciplinary sustainable development project in Harrington, Quebec. They are inspired by permaculture, which is an agricultural ecosystem that is self-sufficient and sustainable. They strongly believe in growing within the community and helping the community flourish. Their goal is to become a fully closed food cycle and be able to produce enough food for 100 families. They’re pretty far away, so they brought a little slice of their heaven to Montreal.
From March 18th to April 30th, Terra Perma will be serving their SIROP: Cabane Urbaine brunches every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm. They teamed up with Quartier du Canal to promote the neighbourhood and everything going on there. The brunch serves local food transformed into a gluttonous sugar shack experience. They serve up the sugar shack classics alongside sugar shack inspired dishes that will have you wanting more. And don’t worry: they have plenty of their own artisanal maple syrup for you to guzzle.
Think airy pancakes made with oats to give them a gooer richer flavour (also vegan – score!). Fluffy scrambled eggs that are heavenly with a bit of maple syrup poured on top (you know you want to). Extra-thick smoked and glazed bacon from the gods to clog your arteries and send you to heaven happy.
Their classics are delicious, like the maple beans you’ll want more than one serving of. They make their own ketchup and beet preserves to add to your plate. Instead of the generic breakfast sausages, they serve merguez sausages for an extra kick of flavour.
To bring this brunch to the next level, they even make maple caviar on a blini with crème fraiche. No fish involved in this dish! And to help out the vegan patrons, not only are the pancakes animal-product free, but they also serve seitan fried chicken!
The regular menu with the classics will set you back $30 a person with a vegan option available (trust us – there is more than enough food to satisfy you now and leave leftover for a snack later). All the other tapas are only $5 a pop, so if you’re really feeling gluttonous, we definitely recommend that maple bacon (mmm).
