Viviane Nguyen, owner of Petit Lapin, is a woman of many trades – a successful notary, a flourishing entrepreneur, and most importantly a mother of two little boys. Opening an allergy free, gluten free, and vegan bakery was not in Viviane’s career plans; however, that all changed the day her eldest son was diagnosed with over 30 food allergies at 10 months old.
Viviane went on a quest to find an allergy free cake for her son’s first birthday. To avoid any reactions, the cake would have to be without dairy, eggs, nuts, gluten, and soy, among other ingredients. After calling countless bakeries all over Montreal to no avail, Viviane decided to put herself up to the challenge and develop an allergy free recipe for her son’s special day.
After doing research and testing different ingredients, Viviane created a giant allergy free cupcake. Waiting in anticipation for her son’s first bite, he dove straight into it showing no signs of a reaction and enjoying every bite! This very moment became the inspiration behind Petit Lapin, and has since saved children and adults from ever being deprived from a cake on their birthday, or ever for that matter!
Petit Lapin‘s mission is to offer tasty treats that are gluten free, lactose free, and free of the ten priority food allergens. From the kitchen environment to staffing, all treats are made with allergy safety in mind. Not only does Petit Lapin keep allergens and gluten out of their own kitchen, they are also very meticulous about where their ingredients come from.
Viviane’s delicious recipes have given the gift of desserts to all those who suffer from food allergies and intolerances. After all, a life without dessert is just not sweet enough!
Petit Lapin offers an assortment of delights to choose from without any worries, including cake pops, doughnuts, cookies, cream puffs, cupcakes, cakes, macarons, and much more! We must say the sweets here are just as much enjoyed and desired by those without allergies and intolerances; we put our palates to the test and savoured every last crumb!
With Valentine’s Day approaching this weekend, Petit Lapin will have a pop up shop at Lululemon Athletica in Carrefour Laval from February 12th to 14th.
