Originally an offshoot of POP Montreal, Passovah Productions has since evolved into its own machine, and launched the Passovah Summer Fesitval in 2012. Now in their 3rd year, the festival has gotten bigger and better, with shows across the city highlighting predominantly local emerging talent. Definitely an event you want to experience. Meanwhile LA-based Made In Heights will be stopping by Montreal, as will teen popstar Cody SimpsonGreat Deal Of Noise are launching their debut album, and influential British DJ Mr. Scruff performs at Le Belmont; time to get Your Music Fix for the week of August 17th to 23rd:

After a chance-meeting at a wedding, Alexei Saba and Kelsey Bulkin immediately struck up a friendship, which resulted in a series of hang outs in New York, and eventually into their musical collaboration Made In Heights. They bring their live show, with support from Syngja, at Le Bleury.

The Passovah Summer Music Festival kicks off for 4 days of shows jam-packed with emerging artists. The Casa Del Popolo has a great lineup that includes experimental rock duo Maica Mia and a late night set by Montreal ambient-pop producer Seoul. Meanwhile, Passovah and BSTB collaborate on an event at new venue Cabaret Piccolo Rialto, located in the basement of the legendary Rialto Theatre. The event includes performances by Vancouver indie rock group Frog Eyes, alongside Kingston-via-Toronto garage rock band PS I Love You, who’ve just released their new album For Those Who Stay.

Passovah continues with 2 more “pay what you can” events happening from 8:00pm to 3:00am: the first at Casa Del Popolo, which includes performances by the likes of Tamara Sandor, Ari Swan and Holy Data. The second event takes place at the Cabaret Piccolo Rialto, and includes Pang Attack, Pigeon Phat and Harvest Soon. Meanwhile, Passovah takes over the Marché Des Possibles for a free event from 7:00pm – 10:30pm with sets by Charlotte Cornfield, James Irwin and Sin And Swoon.

Another duo of “pay what you can” events for Passovah and a headlining set by Suuns, accompanied by L.A. Foster, at Casa Del Popolo. Café Résonance will host a number of local acts from 1:00pm to 7:00pm including Pomptet, Broken Obelisk and YouYourself&I for the first of the “pay what you can” events, and Club Lambi will open up at 9:00pm for sets by Hua Li, Compton Chic, Cousins Party and others.
