With Osheaga in town, Montreal is hosting a few less shows than usual; but what we’re lacking in numbers we’re certainly not lacking in quality. The Montreal International Festiblues takes over Ahuntsic Park for 4 days, Osheaga is throwing 2 mean after parties, and enigmatic British musician FKA Twigs makes her live Montreal debut. Time for Your Music Fix from August 3rd to 9th.

There are 2 killer Osheaga after parties happening simultaneously on Sunday, August 3rd, with British dance producer Duke Dumont, who recently hit #1 on the UK charts twice, with his two first singles Need U (100%) and I Got U. He’ll be hitting the decks at Le Belmont alongside Dutch producer Tom Trago and local duo Vosper. Meanwhile at the Théâtre Corona, both CHVRCHES and Cut Copy will be transferring their skills to the turntables with 2 DJ sets, with Montreal duo Beat Market joining them.

American “crime rock” band Chain & The Gang will be performing at the Divan Orange on Monday August 4th, with The Famine and Ed Schrader’s Music Beat opening. With the imminent release of their debut album No Moon At All, L.A. indie-pop trio Wildcat! Wildcat! is sure to get a lot of traction going into 2015, so it’d be a good idea to catch them now at La Vitrola on Wednesday, August 6th.

The Montreal International Festiblues is celebrating its 17th edition this year, and as per their mission, they’ll be bringing affordable blues and other related music to the beautiful Ahuntsic Park from August 7th to 11th. The Thursday, August 7th lineup includes none other than Sherbrooke electro-jazz band Misteur Valaire, who has been consistently impressing Canadian and European crowds these past few years.

In collaboration with POP Montreal, local promoters Blue Skies Turn Black are brining R&B sensation FKA Twigs to the Cabaret du Mile End. After starting as a music video backup dancer in her native UK, Tahliah Barnett turned her attention to producing and thank god she did. Her 2 debut EPs were an instant critical hit, and her upcoming debut album LP 1 is sure to find itself on every “Best Of 2014” list come December. You can’t afford to miss this one.
