December is here and it’s the holiday season! The snow will start falling soon and the decorations will light up the streets. Jolly music will be playing. Jingle Bells will play throughout the month while the Christmas albums will hit the shelves (we’ve got that Michael Buble CD from a few years ago ready)! If you’re tired of the holiday themed carolling and playlists, there will be a number of shows in Montreal for you to check out!

Marianas Trench

Canadian punk rock band Marianas Trench will be playing a second show at L’Olympia. These guys are constantly being nominated for/winning Much Music Video Awards along with winning other prestigious Canadian music awards like a Juno for group of the year.

Paper Kites + Old Man Canyon

Australian band Paper Kites released their second album, twelvefour, this past summer. If you like indie bands and folk rock, this is a band/show you definitely have to check out. Old Man Canyon will be opening the show!

Matisyahu

Matisyahu is an American reggae rap artist that is best known for his single back in 2005, “King Without a Crown.” His music style is influenced by his education throughout his life and he teaches it back through his music.

Newspeak is bringing English electronic music duo Maribou State for a set. Fresh off their first album Portraits, they’re looking to take their sounds around the world with Montreal being one of the destinations!

Great Lake Swimmers + Art Bergmann

Canadian indie rock folk band Great Lake Swimmers, along with Art Bergmann, will be playing at the Fairmount Theatre (formerly Cabaret du Mile End). Their sounds have been compared to the likes of Iron and Wine, and even the great Neil Young!

Kastle

U.S house music DJ & producer Kastle will be playing a set down at Newspeak! Newspeak is a newer gem bringing out the dopest house music artists to visit our city. Check out Kastle’s remix of Drake’s “Hold On, We’re Going Home” for a sample of his sounds.

Borgore

New City Gas brought out Sander Van Doorn, 3LAU, Vicetone, etc last month and now trap DJ & producer, Borgore! Borgore’s trap sets have been played all over at festivals like Tomorrowland, Ultra, and EDC! Don’t miss out.

Vince Staples
