Fall is here and festival season is coming to a close. That doesn’t mean the good music shows stop though! We’ve got you covered on a wide variety of shows and concerts that you might want to check out. Whether your style of music is EDM or you want to relive your days of “livin’ la vida loca” with Ricky Martin, there is bound to be something here for you. Without further ado, here is your music fix for the month of October.

Yo La Tengo

Yo La Tengo is an American indie band from Hoboken, New Jersey. YLT is definitely one of the older bands of this generation. Although being an older band, they never found themselves going mainstream and kept their music style since the 80s. Their soft sounds provide soothing music to those for those that enjoy that style.

Super8 & Tab

Super8 & Tab are a duo of producers and DJs from Finland. Signed to Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats, they will be playing at Le CinQ along with their fellow label signee Soundprank. For trance fans, this is a show you will definitely want to check out.

Cazzette & Michael Calfan

Cazzette is a Swedish electro music duo. Alexander Bjorklund and Sebastian Furrer started as Cazzette back in 2011 and have amassed a few singles that hit the scene with great success. They have played alongside fellow Swede Avicii and even garnered attention from hometown producer and DJ A-Trak.

The Neighbourhood

Rock hip hop band The Neighbourhood will be hitting the Metropolis this month. Their new album Wiped Out! Will be releasing very soon the same month. The band is known for their single “Sweater Weather.” Their new album will look to bring old and new sounds as they collaborate with rappers like French Montana. Check out their new single R.I.P 2 My Youth for a glimpse of their sounds.

Lane 8

American producer and DJ Daniel Goldstein aka Lane 8 is coming to Montreal. The minds behind Ile Soniq are some of the people to thank for bringing Lane 8 to Velvet in Montreal. With a bright future in the EDM industry, Lane 8 has been blessed by electronic music icon Pete Tong; Pete Tong named Lane 8 as a future star. For the nightlifers and EDM lovers, this is a show that’ll surely rock the [deep] house.

MS MR

MS MR are an American duo composed of vocalist Lizzy Plapinger and producer Max Hershenow. Their music has a mix of indie rock with upbeat pop sounds. Fresh off their new album How Does It Feel that released this summer, MS MR will be playing at the Corona Theatre. It’s bound to be a great show.

Waka Flocka Flame & Brillz

Atlanta rap star Waka Flocka Flame will be wildin’ out at New City Gas alongside Brillz on October 9th. Waka Flocka Flame is coming out with new music and new sounds but as always his music is full of energetic and dope bangers. Expect a lot of energy at New City Gas when Waka Flocka hits the stage!

Oddisee

Amir Mohamed el Khalifa aka Oddisee is an American rapper and producer from Washington D.C. This lyricist from the DMV area emulates and finds inspiration from East Coast rappers like Rakim and A Tribe Called Quest. If you are a fan of hip hop with a greater meaning, this might be an artist/show you’ll want to check out.

Ricky Martin

Ricky Martin’s “One World” tour is coming to Montreal. Famously known for his hit “Livin’ La Vida Loca”, Ricky Martin is back in action while being on his tenth studio album. For those fans of Ricky Martin or for those who want to relive the vida loca days, this will be a show to check out.

Dead Obies

Hailing from the South Shore of the Montreal area, Dead Obies are a local rap group consisting of Jo RCA, Yes McCan, Snail Kid, 20some, O.G. Bear, and Quebec producer VNCE. Their sounds mix the French and English language to venture into the Franglais variety. After their success with their Montreal $ud album, they will be hosting a live production of their new album at the Phi Centre on these 3 days.

Duke Dumont

Duke Dumont is best known for his array of singles which include “Need U (100%),” “I Got You,” and “Won’t Look Back.” He owns the record label Blasé Boys Club which will also be presented during his show, so maybe we can expect some signed artists.

Streetlight Manifesto

Streetlight Manifesto is one of the great bands of the ska/punk music genre. Starting back in New Jersey, they took the ska genre into its limelight. They are currently on their End of the Beginning Tour which means this may be the final time they come to Montreal!

Gareth Emery & Ben Gold

Gareth Emery along with Ben Gold are power houses when it comes to the EDM scene and it showed when New City Gas announced that their show had been sold out. Hopefully another showing will open up and our chances of going to this event will happen.

The Underachievers

The Underachievers are a hip hop duo from the State of New York; more specifically, they are from Flatbush, Brooklyn. Their style of rap and hip hop venture into the psychedelic realm of hip hop. The Underachievers’ dope beats, style of rap, and psychedelic visuals make them one of the better rap talents coming out of NY.

Godsmack

This is for the metal heads out there. Godsmack will be gracing Montreal with a show at the Metropolis this month. They are fresh off their new album 1000hp from last year, so expect some of that at the show.

Chance The Rapper

Chicago native Chance The Rapper blew up when his mixtape Acid Rap gained a lot of attention. His debut album Surf with Donnie Trumpet and The Social Experiment released this year. It was a success with over 10 million track downloads on iTunes.

Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band

Ringo Starr of The Beatles is coming to Montreal! We all know The Beatles… John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and George Harrison (don’t forget George). The Beatles will forever be starred in music history and here we have the chance to watch and listen to one of the greats at Theatre St-Denis. Be quick, because tickets are selling out fast.

Karnavale Festival at New City Gas (Sultan + Shepard, Kygo, Armin Van Buuren)

Halloween weekend is always a blast for the nightlife scene. New City Gas, as usually, brings out the best artists in the EDM genre. Local hometown duo Sultan + Shepard will be opening the weekend on that Friday, while Kygo brings the tropical house vibes on Halloween day. To top it all off, the king of trance Armin Van Buuren will be closing the weekend on Sunday. All you EDM heads out there, go get your tickets!

Felix Da Housecat

Felix Da Housecat is an American DJ and producer specializing in the Chicago house style of the house music genre. He is one of the pioneers to continue this style of house music that taps more into the hip hop and rap rather than the EDM style. For the real house heads out there, this is a show for you!
