Ladies and gentleman, start your engines and make your way to Vortex Racing! When Vortex Racing opened its doors in 2012, it became the first Formula 1 simulator of its kind in North America. Using state of the art technology, participants are able to get a realistic feel for what it’s like to put the pedal to the metal in an exhilarating Formula 1 ride.
Seated low in the cockpit, encompassed by 3 large screens, drivers get an incredibly real-feel for what Formula 1 driving is all about. Each simulator packs a punch with up to 2.5 Gs of force feedback and a full range of motion.
The simulators are so realistic they have been used to train the pros (because, let’s face it, Montreal is covered in snow 6 months of the year…not ideal for outdoor racing), but don’t let that intimidate you if you are new to the world of racing, or even driving, for that matter. Montreall.com’s test-driver is unlicensed, and she still had a fantastic time cruising around the course (albeit, sometimes in the wrong direction…mistakes happen). Those with more skill will be able to challenge themselves in a full-on race against their buddies.
The experience is so incredibly immersive that prior to racing, participants are invited to suit-up in full, head-to-toe Formula 1 gear. After getting decked out, participants will be taken into the simulation room and be told what to expect and how it all works by the incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff. After that, it’s race time!
Each session gives drivers 12 minutes that can be divided how they like. A driver can do a 6 minute solo warm-up then a 6 minute race with against their friends, or if participating alone, you can race against automated competitors. While 12 minutes really doesn’t sound like much, don’t be fooled. Formula 1 racing takes effort and 12 minutes will give you an adrenaline rush to last throughout the day.
Vortex Racing is an incredibly fun and interesting way to spend a day. With a large open area, a full kitchen for catering services, and a unique experience not likely to be forgotten any time soon, Vortex Racing is able to host anything, like conferences, client meetings, bachelor parties, small groups, individuals, and huge groups (up to 150 people!).
The welcoming staff are incredibly eager to put Vortex Racing on the map, as they should be. This is an experience unlike any other and is definitely worth trying out at least once.
