Resto Palme is the new Caribbean restaurant in the Village that will transport you to sandy beaches and an azure sea. High school sweethearts and now married couple, Lee-Anne Millaire Lafleur and chef Ralph Alerte, propose a menu that feels like home while celebrating their origins. Their menu showcases the best of the Caribbean Islands with a touch of Montreal. Chef Ralph’s culinary experience includes KalaluConfusion Tapas du Monde, and Knox Tavern. He has travelled to Grand Cayman where he learned the heart and soul of Caribbean cooking.

We were invited to the first day of their brunch service. We started off with a twist of a Jamaican staple – ackee & saltfish (salted cod) with green omelette and grilled brioche. Ackee refers to a fruit in the same family as lychee and longan. The texture is very similar to durian minus the pungent smell. Green eggs are simply eggs that are blended with green vegetables. This dish is seasoned with turmeric, coriander, parsley, cayenne pepper, black peppercorns, and Jamaican peppercorns.

Next the crab cake egg Benedict with shrimp hollandaise sauce is our all-time favourite brunch item. Simply by the sound of this dish, you know it will be amazing! The crab cake is generous in portions with a beautifully seared crust topped with a perfectly poached egg. A must order!

Chicken & waffles is also another one of our favourites. Crisp & pillowy waffle served with fried chicken that is marinated in buttermilk. This is complemented with a sweet and spicy sauce – maple syrup, jalapeños, habanero, garlic, and chili flakes.

As for sides, go for their blue potatoes tossed in jerk seasoning. Unique in taste, packed with punches of flavours. The main ingredients of the jerk seasoning include ginger, tamarind, Jamaican peppercorn, and scotch bonnet.

End (or start) your meal with viennoiseries and desserts such as croissants, cannelés, and financiers from Arhoma bakery.

Brunch is served on the last Sunday of every month. The next edition is on March 25th. You can reserve for the first service at 11am or the second service at 2pm.
