Carb lovers, prepare yourself for the first edition of Pasta Week in Montreal! From May 1st to May 7th, 20 trattorias will be preparing an authentic pasta dish especially for this event. To get the most out of Pasta Week, you can get yourself a passport at any of the participating restaurants for a chance to win a trip for two to Rome, Italy.
For the participating restaurants, their pasta will be judged by chef Pasquale Vari, culinary instructor at ITHQ and judge of Radio-Canada TV show “Les Chefs.” He will be the one awarding the restaurant with the best pasta dish!
Here are some of the interesting dishes to look out for during this Pasta Week extravaganza:
For a real surf & turf dish, go to Pizzeria Caldo for their veal cheek agnoletti with seared scallop, grilled shrimp, and nordic shrimp.
For something earthy, opt for the bucatini dish at La Demande Générale. It is tossed in tomato sauce with braised veal, topped with some pecorino and feta.
For the foie gras lovers, try out the raviolis stuffed with foie gras and braised beef at Quindici. This is served with shiitake and oyster mushrooms, truffle butter, and asiago cheese.
Another interesting dish found in Laval is the caramelle (candy pasta) filled with mozzarella and coated with a pesto sauce at Pasta Da Panza.
Finally, the most intriguing dish to try out is the squid ink campanelle, complemented with chorizo and mussels at Pâtes BOL.
