Montreal nightlife is pretty varied. We have an assortment of bumping and grinding nightclubs, great wine bars with delectable plates to keep the wine flowing, bars with a ton of imported beers, and swanky cocktail clubs for those who want more than a vodka soda to keep them liquored up. In comes Bord’elle, a mix of the swanky nightclubs and classy cocktail bars, with a huge twist.

Bord’elle is probably going to be the most beautiful bar you step into in all of Montreal. It’s a Great Gatsby-like bar with beautiful high ceilings that will keep you looking up instead of at the crowd. With two mezzanines overlooking the main hall, there are plenty of places to roam around to enjoy the beautiful decor. Every wall is filled with paintings, photographs, windows, and beautiful detailing. We can’t imagine how much thought was put into this!

At their opening event, they put out all the stops. Flappers roamed the bar adding to the Great Gatsby ambiance; there was a whiskey bar, a gin bar, and a champagne bar at different ends of the space; and they had a swing suspended in the air for a fabulous show for all the guests. There was so much to behold, it’s hard to list it all. But in the end, it was all perfectly fabulous.

Their gin bar has awesome cocktails that bring the typical gin and tonic to the next level. The cucumber, basil, red tonic, soda, and Hendrick’s gin cocktail was a delicious twist on an old classic. The strawberry, black pepper, blue tonic, soda, and gin cocktail had both sweet and peppery flavours that made us want more.

They brought out bite sized canapés to keep our bellies full while we guzzled gin, and even though their kitchen wasn’t fully open yet, they really impressed us. We loved the beef tataki, mushroom bites, and salmon tartare that was floating around. We’re eager to try out what comes out of their kitchen next!

Now ladies, we know you covet the bathroom selfie. Well, Bord’elle‘s bathrooms are bathroom selfie goals. The main floor bathrooms have gold toilet seats (you read that right), so you can live out your posh Bitmoji dreams (those of you with a Bitmoji will know where we’re at). The downstairs bathrooms have beautiful floral wallpaper and gold accents that are the perfect background for all your photo ops.

Bord’elle is sure to the next “it” place in Montreal, with the city’s bar hoppers clambering at the door just to get a peek. We know we’ll be back to take a step into Leonardo DiCaprio’s Great Gatsby right here in Montreal. And who knows, maybe you’ll find your own Jay Gatsby or Daisy Buchanan in there.
