We all know Faberge as one of Montreal’s best brunch spots, and when it closes at 4pm we all shed a little tear. Great news! A new pop-up restaurant will be inhabiting Faberge after hours, bringing you dinner service from Thursday to Sunday. La Recolte is a new pop-up restaurant serving eco-friendly produce from the Terra Perma farms in the Laurentians.

Terra Perma is a community in the Laurentians which assembles residents and eco-entrepreneurs inspired by permaculture. All the delicious food on La Recolte’s menu is grown with love in Quebec. The produce from Terra Perma farms are grown using ago-ecological processes with no pesticides, no GMO seeds, and no non-organic fertilizer.

We’ve all binge watched the nutrition documentaries on Netflix on a quiet Wednesday night, and they’re all saying the same thing: eat whole, organic, local foods to help your body and the environment. No better way to support local farmers than by supporting La Recolte’s initiative to bring their harvest to the city.

So, let’s get to the good stuff: what kind of food is La Recolte serving up? Their culinary approach is to serve up sharable tapas style dishes using local produce, and have thus coined the phrase #farmtotapas! Their menu creatively reimagines what we think of as simple vegetables, and serve up incredible, flavourful food. Our personal favourites were the caramelized cabbage with yogurt ranch and the roasted quail. Note all their meat and eggs are also sources from local, sustainable, Quebec farmers. But the items on the menu will change as the harvest changes, so it’s kind of like Costco, one day it’s there and the next it’s gone, so act fast!

If you don’t have a chance to stop in for a full meal, there will be a farmer’s stand set up right outside Faberge from Thurs-Sun selling specialty sauces and syrups, but also take-away treats like empanadas.

And just when you thought it couldn’t get better, La Recolte also serves up creative specialty cocktails which also seek to highlight local ingredients. Our favourite cocktail was the Sumacade, make with sumac infused lemonade and Canadian Club.

La Recolte will be serving up the season’s harvest until October 28th so check them out before their gone.
