It’s been almost one year since the owners of SuWu, Zach Macklovich and Nathan Gannage, have successfully given Saint-Laurent Boulevard the face-lift it needed.

The space that was once occupied by Cafeteria Resto-Bar, has now morphed into an urban jungle full of greenery, wooden tables and a ceiling framework decorated in vines with Edison bulbs suspended from them. SuWu offers some of best chilled out vibes, great music, and even better food for brunch and dinner.

This unpretentious hang out, with its old school hip-hop vibe and not-so-average bar food (i.e. Their famous grilled cheese mac n’ cheese), is the type of place that’ll turn you into a regular after, of course, having seduced you with one of their yummy cocktails; perhaps the Big Booty Hoe or their Thugs Passion.

SuWu recently announced they would be complementing their already delicious food menu with some innovative additions, so you can imagine our excitement.

Their updated menu now offers a selection of original entrées and a few new main dishes to choose from. The east coast salmon tartar, served on top of an avocado mousse, acts as a catalyst to your curiosity.  You’ll want to make sure to dibble dabble into a couple of dishes; order the pan seared hangar steak which is perfectly cooked and topped off with a blue cheese compound. For those who really appreciate SuWu’s signature style comfort food, we suggest trying the fried buttermilk chicken, which rested on a bed of creamy polenta – sure to be a crowd pleaser!

Laidback vibes, soul food, urban décor and hip-hop inspired beverages are one hell of a combo, which puts SuWu Neighbourhood Bar at the top of both our foodie and our nightlife lists.
