A nine-day strike by STM maintenance staff began at midnight on June 9, and is scheduled to end on Tuesday, June 17, affecting both bus and metro services across Montréal.
June 13–15: F1 Grand Prix Weekend
- Both metro and buses resume 100% service, running regular schedules, even overnight.
June 16–17: Final Stretch
- During the final days:
- Peak service stays full.
- Off-hours operate at 50%.
- Metro runs same hours: first trains at 5:30 a.m., last trains at 1:30 a.m. Buses maintain full overnight hours but at half frequency outside peaks.
Survival Guide
- Plan commutes around the essential windows.
- Always build in extra buffer time before and after rush hours.
- Check STM’s strike page regularly.
- Explore alternate options: bike, Bixi, walking, telework.
- Be prepared for crowding and delays outside rush hours.
- Aim to catch full-service days (June 13–15).
- Watch for announcements after June 17—regular service should return late Tuesday night.
With proper planning and awareness of peak windows, Montrealers can still get around effectively. Have a great F1 weekend, Montreal!
