You may remember a certain restaurant in Westmount by the name of Bice. Well, they’ve had themselves a revamp and a fresh new name: Ristorante Beatrice. The name is a little more feminine, a little more refined, and it rolls off the tongue nicely. That’s pretty much how the restaurant feels (and tastes).

When you step through the doors, you’ll be greeted with impeccable service, right off the bat. The staff will have you wanting to come back in no time!

The décor at Beatrice is stunning. You feel like you’re walking into an enchanted forest. The ceiling is filled with small soft fairy lights, giving the entire dining area a magical ambiance. They have a beautiful outdoor terrace that you have to take advantage of in the summer. It’s also the perfect spot to host a magical event.

Now on to the food. Beatrice serves upscale Italian fare that will have you salivating. They expertly combine the classics with a bit of a modern twist, keeping their menu fresh and exciting. Basically, you can never go wrong.

For appetizers, we tried the carciofi e funghetti: in English, the artichokes and mushrooms, and of course these were not ordinary. They were swimming with flavour and topped with a generous amount of shaved parmesan.

Next, a must: the burrata with prosciutto, olive bread, basil pesto, and tomatoes. Burrata on its own is heavenly, and combined with all those tasty ingredients, we were very happy campers.

For something less Italian and more modern flavour fusion, we recommend the tuna tartare, with soy and sambal, avocado, apple, cucumber, and taro. The tuna is super fresh and full of flavour, and the apple gives it the perfect touch of sweetness that we love with our raw fish.

For mains, their seafood is to die for. We tried the grilled shrimp with barley, citrus, and broccolini. Such a healthy and hearty dish: it was good for our tummies and our tastebuds!

Now for the pastas. We have a soft spot for a well-made pasta dish. A delicious classic at Beatrice is the agnolotti with braised veal in a mushroom sauce. We can’t get over the flavours in this dish. Absolutely incredible.

To combine a classic and make it wow, Beatrice took the eggplant parmesan and put it in a ravioli. Yup, that’s right. And it was incredible. Combined with fresh herbs, tomatoes, and ricotta salata, this dish was wonderful and homey.

If you want to impress someone special, this is definitely the place to go. You won’t be disappointed, and you’ll leave with a happy tummy.
