Montreal may be one of the best known destinations for nightlife and that has been true since the 1920’s. When Prohibition was in full swing in the United States and many other provinces in Canada, Quebec was one of the few places where Prohibition didn’t last. Known for a time as the ‘Las Vegas of the North,’ Montreal was something to behold in the early part of the twentieth century, covered in lights, glitter, and beautiful women. Bang! Bang! Circus Burlesque aims to bring back the good ol’ days with their fantastical and interactive burlesque meets circus extravaganza.

This year, you’ll be brought back to the speakeasy vibes of the roaring 20’s with Bang! Bang!’s premiere circus show. To further the effect of going back in time, the show will be held at the historic Bain Mathieu, one of Montreal’s original bathhouses, built from 1883 to 1933. By blending the sensual burlesque atmosphere with the excitement and pizzazz of the circus and World Fairs of the early 20th century, Bang! Bang! brings the sexy and the whimsical together for one spectacular show. With 30 artists performing, each and every act is as different and fantastical as the next. Think stripping fire eaters and you’ve got a taste of this extravagant and creative show.

Creative Director Esmeralda Nadeau- Jasso has been preparing her acts for the show along with others to impress and enthrall. After joining a circus troupe at the age of 17, Nadeau-Jasso brings multiple skills and talent to start this show off with, well, a BANG! Many of the performers are recent graduates from Montreal’s circus school and will be showing off their skills, flying high and baring it all.

The show will also be employing an eleven piece local Montreal band, The Unsettlers, adding to the aura of speakeasy clubs. Dim lights and brassy notes will submerge you straight into a page of The Great Gatsby. If you’re in the mood for the unusual, check out Bang! Bang! Circus Burlesque. Pinstripe suit and cigars not included.
