It seems these days everyone slaps on some dry fit and heads to the gym to Instagram a sweat-free mirror selfie. Selfies are fun, but what’s it got to do with enhancing your workout? Enter Blackout Fitness, the full-body circuit based gym in Griffintown that is turning flab into fab like nobody’s business. But you have to work. Hard. And during workout time, there’s no time for that selfie. Trust us, we know.
Do we have your attention? Good. Let’s talk about the people who will be handing you your you-know-what on a silver platter (in a great way). The gym is the brainchild of Phil Black, and with Manager Matt his team of awesome trainers (Daniel, Moe, Ryan, Sophia, Natalie, Chooky, Corey, and Josh. And Phil and Matt, of course), you can get yourself whipped into shape and actually have fun in the process. This team, or should we say family…They are not only great at getting you in shape, but they make sure to get to know you and all your kinks better than you do. And once you go, and then go a few more times, they know exactly how to get you where you want to be without cheating, overdoing it, or hurting yourself. But you can expect a mix of squats, lunges, chin-ups, running, rowing, skiing, sleding, sprinting, weights, push-ups, abs, planks, side planks, and well every exercise worth doing. All in just one hour.
Ok so you’re pumped. You’ve pulled out your best get-up for the occasion. But how does it work? Well, you can become a member and use the gym’s facilities on your own. You can train privately or semi-privately (prices per hour vary) with the trainer of your choosing at a decided time throughout the morning, day, or evening. Or you can absolutely kill it in one of their circuit classes ($25/class or buy in bulk $250/20 classes). Monday-Friday classes are on 4 times a day: 6:45 AM (hello new day!), 12:00 PM (proactive lunch break!), 6:00 PM (no home without a little sweat), or 7:00 PM (drop the slacks, but don’t slack). On the weekends you can sweat it out at the 11:00 AM class. For all of these, all you need to do is show up (physically and mentally, to be sure). Put in the time and you might even make an appearance on their massive members board. Fame and glory all because of how hard you worked.
You’re really ready now? Great. You can call them up or go in and set up a first time assessment (to see what degree of hardcore you’re physically capable of) and then the tough part: figuring out how to cancel all outstanding plans so you can go again and again and again…and before you know it…they become your family too.
