Jonah James in Westmount is a café bistro that serves breakfast and lunch every day of the week as well as dinner on Thursdays and Fridays. The atmosphere at Jonah James is relaxed, friendly and very trendy; the decor is retro/vintage and reminiscent of the sixties and seventies. In fact, some of the furniture in the bistro belonged to part owner Eliza Parkinson’s grandfather. At Jonah James, you can enjoy quality coffee beverages (drip, espressos, lattes, the works) and also some pretty amazing food. Go with your friends and enjoy the brunch menu or some fresh pastries from Boulangerie ArHoMa. Better yet, have a taste of the Hang-Over Hash, made with all the regular ingredients of the classic dish – eggs, potatoes, onions and gravy – but substitutes sausage with smoked meat to add a Montreal twist, and what a delicious twist it is! As for pastries, try the Pistachio Croissant or the Chocolatine; they are out of this world. Other do-not-miss menu options include the Double Decker Grilled Cheese, Quinoa salad, and the salmon tartar. The best is yet to come. On Friday evenings and Sunday mornings Jonah James offers its visitors live performances by the Claremont Jazz Trio. Jazz music while brunching? Yup you heard right. At Jonah James they understood that vintage is an experience, and not just a décor. Before leaving, check out their vintage boutique, Norah, where you will find books, soaps, candles and an array of other articles that make adorable gift ideas.
