Since its inauguration in 1996, Fantasia Film Festival has become one of the most recognized international film festivals in the world. Every summer, Montreal hosts this incredible event and features some of the most exciting new genre films that often go on to become cult classics. This year, Fantasia will be running from July 17th to August 5th and promises to keep us entertained throughout the summer nights.

As one of the most well known international genre film festivals, Fantasia has previously hosted world premieres of films like Inglorious Basterds, Bon Cop Bad Cop, and Phantasm II. Who knows which movies will go on to be world-famous after having been featured at the Fantasia Film Festival?

This year’s 18th edition is set to raise the bar, with a completely refurbished screening room in Concordia LB building, of the central theaters of the festival, the J.A de Sève Cinema. Other locales include Place des Arts, Scène Videotron, and Imperial Theatre.

The festival also hosts specials guests and judges. Some notable guests over the years have included Malcolm Macdowell (A Clockwork Orange), Udo Kier, Don Mancini (Chucky), and Joey King (The Conjuring).

You can also watch movies under the stars with Fantasia Under the Stars. This feature of the festival began in 2006. You can now watch previous festival’s films at select outdoor screenings.
