L’Gros Luxe isn’t even a month old yet and it’s captivating the city one mini grilled cheese at a time! Located in the heart of the Plateau of Montreal (with a new location in Mile End), this little bistro is worth the metro ride. With one of the main players from Suwu heading the joint alongside designer Amlyne Philips (you can check out her work over at Suwu and Apartment 200), L’Gros Luxe has all the right ingredients to create a cool vintage atmosphere with some amazing food. This little bistro feels like an old Montreal apartment with its vintage light fixtures, printed wall paper, and seating complete with vintage couches.

The ambiance is intimate and welcoming but it’s the food that will keep you coming back. Serving up fresh takes on classic bistro comfort food like grilled cheese and tomato soup, burgers, and traditional soft tacos all at incredibly low prices, L’Gros Luxe knows how to work childhood favorites into an eclectic gastronomic experience. Some house specialties include the avocado fries, grilled cheese poutine, and tacos at only $5 for two; you can try all the variations they serve up! The fish tacos on a bed of tangy cabbage slaw and the vegetarian version with the sweet potato purée are not to be missed. L’Gros Luxe also carries an entirely vegetarian menu to cater to the diverse lifestyle of Montreal.

Don’t forget their specialty cocktails, such as their take on the classic Caesar. Any of their specialty drinks come complete with a mini grilled cheese, onion rings, a slider burger, or chicken wings. You’ll surely be impressed when you see these drinks coming towards your table.

With its cozy atmosphere and eclectic twist on classic comfort foods, L’Gros Luxe puts the little luxuries in life back on the table: good food, good drinks, and good friends.
