Right across from Square Saint-Louis on Saint-Denis Street, sits La Petite Cuillère. This quaint little spot is easy to miss, so watch out for the big silver spoon right next to the entry.

In summer, the outdoor terrace is the perfect place to stretch out your legs, slurp some delicious iced tea, and soak up the sun. In winter, patrons retreat to the warm and comfortable inside. The interior resembles something of a mix between coffee house, living room, and study space, which makes for a wonderfully homey atmosphere. Loved for its large wooden tables and free wifi, the place is often packed to the brim with students.

If you’re not here to study, snuggle down on the comfy bench in front of the large bay windows. Curled up between the cushions, you can enjoy your coffee with a good book or magazine on your lap. If you’re hanging out with your friends and you’ve got some time on your hands, take a browse through the cabinet of board and card games for some extra fun and play!

The café serves excellent fair-trade espresso, and a small selection of iced drinks and juices. Filter coffee lovers, however, must make do with their Americano (sorry!).

As for food, the kitchen prepares a daily menu ($12.50) with a soup or salad and dessert and coffee, some breakfast items like chocolatines ($2.50), or yogurt with muesli ($3.75), as well as a choice of grilled cheese sandwiches ($6.50, $10 with soup or salad). Up front at the counter, you’ll find a vitrine filled with homemade cakes and pastries, for those who fancy something sweet with their coffees.

While waiting for your seat or for your order, make sure to check out the works of local artists displayed on the walls. The café also functions as a venue for the occasional event, such as live music nights, or public talks and discussions. Follow La Petite Cuillère on Facebook to find out more!
