What better way to celebrate the first weekend of summer than with Montreal’s family-friendly A Taste of the Caribbean Food Festival? Montreal transforms the Old Port’s Ile Bonsecours area into a tropical island from June 26th to June 28th.

Celebrating its 16th year, for the first time ever, this 3-day event takes place outdoors from 11:00am to 11:00pm. Admission is free for all before 7:00pm and tickets for the evening concerts are $5 (if purchased in advance) or $10 at the door (free for children 12 and under).

The event is inspired by the food of 20 Caribbean nations (Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, Haiti, and more) with plenty of outdoor activities featuring the art and music of these cultures. The city’s top Caribbean chefs are showcasing their talent through food demonstrations and specialty dishes at affordable prices. Children can learn how to play musical instruments and participate in live shows. Some other activities taking place throughout the festival include face painting and hair braiding.
