Often described as a non-vegetarians favourite vegetarian restaurant, Lola Rosa is a haven for veggie-lovers and carnivores alike. The vegetarian bistro has two locations in Montreal, one catering to the hungry students of the McGill Ghetto, the other situated at the slopes of the Mount Royal on Avenue du Parc.

The menu offers a rich variety of meals, including Tunisian ragouts, Mexican burritos, as well as your customary veggie burger. Whether you’re vegetarian, vegan, gluten or lactose intolerant, the friendly staff will strive to accommodate your every dietary need. Most menu items have vegan or lactose-free options, making it easy to enjoy a delicious and guilt-free meal.

The creamy soup of the day ($4.25) is a perfect way to start off your meal. If you’re not too hungry and you’re looking for something light, give the samosa a try ($8). In contrast to the usually deep-fried nature of this Indian staple, Lola Rosa’s lightly baked pastries are crisp and fresh and come with a side salad and dip of choice.

One of the restaurant’s specialities is, without a doubt, the gigantic platter of Lola’s Nachos ($16.50). This mountain of tortilla chips, topped with assorted veggies, salsa, and stringy mozzarella cheese, can be shared with friends or tackled alone (a demi-portion is also available for $9).

The aromatic curry ($11.50) combines sweet and spicy flavours in a warming stew of sweet potatoes, carrots, raisins, and coconut milk. Known and beloved is also the restaurant’s Hempburger ($12), which would make most run-of-the-mill hamburgers burst with envy!
