Local and international foodies rejoice! Montreal, the city that loves to eat, will be hosting their very own food show November 7th to 8th. Located at one of the city’s most sought after showrooms, Place Bonaventure, La Grande Degustation is coming back for a second year. While the city is definitely no stranger to cook-offs, restaurant festivals, and international fare, we have yet to have a tasting experience quite like La Grande Degustation.
This year’s programming consists of Les Petites Dégustations, an exclusive tasting event with small groups of six participants and six different dishes from six different chefs or producers. Each chef/producer will have six minutes to create their signature product or dish for participants to taste. These smaller sessions will last about an hour and have limited space, so sign up quickly at the registration desk when you head in to the show.
This year’s show includes three main themes: South Africa, Chenin Blanc, and Whiskey’s of the World. Over 150 different products from South Africa will be on display for tasting this year as La Grande Degustation celebrates this wonderfully diverse country and their foods. Paying homage again to the South African motif, Chenin Blanc is one of the oldest varieties of grape from South Africa; sign up in advance for a unique tasting event of South African Chenin Blanc wines! If wine just doesn’t do it for you, hit up the hard stuff with La Grande Degustation’s whiskey tasting. With twenty different whiskey houses from Scotland, Canada, Ireland and the United States, find out how whiskey is making a huge comeback as many men’s and even ladies’ drink of choice!
