If ever there was a sign that the heavens and this world collide, it’s the month of November, also known to us lucky residents of Montreal as Grilled Cheese Month. Yes. Grilled. Cheese. Month. Even though grilled cheese, for most of us, is something celebrated on the regular, we think that it’s quite exquisite that Le Cheese and L’Gros Luxe are putting it on the pedestal it deserves to be admired from. For 30 glorious days, both restaurants will be featuring 30 different grilled cheeses. Each day. If you’re an equal opportunist that is known to suffer from a bit of FOMO (fear of missing out), you can lunch at one and dinner at the other and thus try all 60. Some of the options will be served at both…so you know, loosen that belt buckle.

Le Cheese

Known and adored as Montreal’s grilled cheese food truck, the gracious people of Le Cheese decided to open up a Casse Croute on Monkland in NDG so that we didn’t have to suffer all winter long. And because the Le Cheese team likes to be ‘le tease’, they’re only making a fixed amount of each daily special per day. You’ll need to be on the ball if you want to try them all. They’ve already done an Ikea Meatball GC, Cheeseburger GC, and Cherry Coke GC. To give you an idea of what to expect, here are some of the grilled cheeses that will be coming your way: Le Pizza Ticker (Nov. 14th), Buffalo Chicken (Nov. 20th), Pesto, Avocado, and Goat’s Cheese (Nov.26th), and they’ll be finishing off with Cuban Pulled Pork on the 30th. To see the full lineup, check their website here. You can also continue the drool fest by visiting their Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

Le Cheese Casse Croute is open Tuesday to Thursday 12:00pm – 10:00pm, Friday and Saturday 12:00pm – 4:00am and 12:00pm – 10:00pm on Sunday.

L’Gros Luxe (Plateau and Mile End)

We are fortunate here in Montreal because not only do we have one L’Gros Luxe, we have two. And regardless of which one you visit, you know that undoubtedly you’ll eat something that will be delicious, fresh, and gluttonous in a great way. You also know that you’re at a place that knows grilled cheese when it’s something you can get as a garnish to your Caesar (any day). Like Le Cheese, L’Gros Luxe already served up some hall-of-famers like Butter Chicken GC on Naan, Pesto, Avocado, and Goat’s Cheese GC, and a Spaghetti and Meatballs GC. But they too have some big up and comers: Fig and Caramelized Onion GC (Nov. 14th), French Toast GC with Apples and Caramel (Nov. 17th), Steak GC (Nov. 25th), or celebrate with their finale, a Bacon, Broccoli, and Aged Cheddar GC on the 30th. You can check out their full lineup on Facebook here. You can moon over the specials on their Twitter or Instagram, too.

Both locations are open Monday to Thursday, 11:00am – 12:00am, Friday 11:00am – 1:00am, Saturday 10:00am – 1:00am, and Sunday 10:00am – 12:00am.
