Patrons of Dix30 on the South Shore have been spoiled with bars and pubs for years. Mile Public House, Jack Saloon, Balthazar, and Fabrique à Boire are all very cool rustic spots with the same relaxed party atmosphere. Some are more dance-y, others more fun, but none could really be called chic. Until now. Chmpgn & Cie has replaced the old Fontana in the giant main building beside Alt Hotel. It’s a classier spot that finally gives South Shore residents a place to dress up for.

Brought together by the exciting new Gold Star group, Chmpgn & Cie fills a void that has existed on the South Shore longer than anyone cares to mention. The place is an intimate ode to all things champagne and is glammed up with Indian murals and golden accents. The black leather seats and white tables make the whole place look that much more sexy and worthy of our best outfits. Furthermore, we can’t wait for the considerable terrace to be opened up for the summer season. Is anything better than champagne in the summer heat?

We were lucky enough to be at both the media and blog events. This is quite fortunate as we saw both sides of what Chmpgn & Cie will be. It can certainly be a party spot for large groups complete with champagne bottles opened with saber, a live DJ, and excellent finger foods, as we saw on media night.

On the other hand, blogger night was an intimate affair with amazing dishes such as a shrimp and scallop cocktail with mango mousse. Standouts also included the sweet dried fig, soft cheese, and spicy chorizo combination as well as the vibrantly fresh tuna tartare. The juicy lamb chops were also particularly delicious with prominent peppercorns and a great spice combination.

Regardless of the delicious food, the chic yet comfortable ambiance and the amazing terrace, you should go to Chmpgn & Cie if only for the twenty five types of champagne! The place has found some mystical way to make champagne affordable and then put it in everything! Champagne cocktails like the sparkling mojito and the classic Bellini range between the regular to the outlandish. However, they are all quite refreshing and delicious. Even food comes with champagne pairings suggested on the menu.

Suffice it to say, we look forward to enjoying a jaunt to the ever expanding attraction that is Dix30. Champagne & Cie has added a layer of depth sorely lacking in the nightlife of Dix30. It remains to be seen what more they will bring us this summer.
